Mere hours after both Iran and Israel agreed to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, the former state directed a fresh barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel—prompting Jerusalem to hit back with targeted strikes on Islamic Republic military assets.
While the ceasefire, for now, is holding, things look tense in the Middle East, to say the least.
4 Israeli Civilians Killed
At approximately 5:40 a.m., an Iranian missile hit an apartment block in Beersheba, southern Israel, killing four civilians.
More than twenty other people were left injured. The missile tore through a reinforced safe room, underscoring the magnitude of the threat Israelis live under daily.
The IDF has since launched a full investigation into why the projectile evaded air defense interception.
Iran Attacks Right Before the Ceasefire?
Israel had entered the ceasefire in good faith after delivering devastating blows to Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities, stating it had “achieved all objectives” of its campaign.
But Iran’s action—firing six salvos of missiles in the hours leading up to the ceasefire deadline—left Israel with no choice but to act.
“In light of the severe violation of the ceasefire carried out by the Iranian regime, we will respond with force,” said IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.
Katz Orders Precise Strikes
Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered precision strikes deep into Iran, targeting missile launchers and nuclear facilities used to menace Israeli cities.
Among the targets was the notorious SPND nuclear complex in Tehran.
Israeli officials say the strikes prevented an even larger barrage and were conducted with maximum care to avoid civilian casualties—an effort Iran rarely mirrors.
While Iran’s state media has denied any wrongdoing, attempting to portray Israel’s legitimate self-defense as “aggression”, facts speak louder than propaganda.
Iran has launched 550 plus missiles and 1,000 drones toward the Jewish State Hospitals, homes, colleges and hospitals were targeted.
So far, twenty-nine Israelis have been killed, thousands injured, and millions forced to use bomb shelters.
Trump Airs Frustrations
U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly brokered the ceasefire, has signalled his frustration at its near collapse, but it should be obvious who is responsible for the ongoing war.. Israel agreed to a truce.
So far, Israel’s response has been limited. Some coalition ministers have voiced public support for the strategic strikes, with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declaring that, “Tehran trembles”.
Does the Islamic Republic of Iran crave peace? Its near breach of this ceasefire would seem to suggest the opposite, as would its decades-long genocidal vow to wipe the Jewish State off the face of the planet.
The good news is that, at least for now, the ceasefire is back on. However, how long will it hold?
