Key Points and Summary – Israel is reportedly preparing for fresh military strikes against Iran, believing Tehran will inevitably try to rebuild its shattered nuclear program.

-According to an Axios report, top Israeli officials think the Trump administration would approve new strikes if Iran attempts to recover highly enriched uranium from the damaged Fordow site or begins reconstructing its enrichment facilities.

-President Trump, after meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday, confirmed the U.S. is “ready, willing, and able” to strike Iran again if it does not choose peace, setting the stage for a potential new phase of conflict focused on “nuclear lawn maintenance.”

Iran Could Be Attacked Again

Israel is reportedly preparing for fresh strikes against Iran, according to two sources who spoke to Axios this week.

Israeli officials reportedly believe Iran is likely to revive its nuclear program after B-2 bombers destroyed its nuclear infrastructure – and that further military action could be necessary to stop them.

Ron Dermer, a top adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reportedly told officials in closed meetings that he believes the Trump administration would approve new strikes on Iran under specific circumstances. Trump admin officials reportedly said Washington would support further Israeli strikes in Iran if evidence suggests Iran could recover highly-enriched uranium from its underground Fordow site. The rebuilding of enrichment facilities would also be a red line for the president.

Since Trump ended the 12-day war to an end with the recent historic “bunker buster” bombings, he has publicly called on Iran to pursue a path of “peace” and cease its nuclear operations. During a meeting with Netanyahu in Washington on Monday, however, the president warned that the United States was “ready, willing and able” to strike Iran again if they do not stop.

“I will tell you that in my view, I hope it’s over,” Trump said when asked if he believes the Iran-Israel war is over.

“I think Iran wants to meet. I think they want to make peace and I’m all for it. Now, if that’s not the case, we are ready, willing, and able,” the president continued.

New Era Of Nuclear “Lawn Maintenance”?

The reports follow analysis from this outlet exploring the possibility that the United States and Israel may be forced into an era of nuclear “lawn maintenance” in Iran, launching new military assaults on Iran as its authorities begin work to restore its nuclear program.

On Tuesday, July 1, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that the Fordow uranium enrichment facility was “seriously and heavily damaged.” The Iranian official also confirmed, however, that assessments were currently underway to determine how quickly the nuclear program could be relaunched.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also approved a new law this month that prevents cooperation between Iran’s nuclear officials and the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency – a move widely seen as an effort to protect Iran’s project to restore its nuclear facilities.

With Iran refusing to cease its nuclear ambitions and plans reportedly underway to potentially recover enriched uranium that is believed to have been buried at Fordow, Washington and Jerusalem must now decide how to prevent Tehran once again coming close to developing its own nuclear weapons.

Without regime change or successful diplomatic efforts to convince the country’s Supreme Leader to change his mind, the next U.S. president could be faced with the daunting prospect of fresh U.S. strikes on Iran.

And in the meantime, Trump must decide whether or not to back Israeli strikes that could take place much sooner.
