Where Is Joe Biden?

What Happened to Joe Biden?: Where is Joe Biden? The former president has seen better days. His legacy is tarnished. His physical health and mental acuity are not the best. He essentially got kicked off the presidential ticket. He is not considered a leader of the Democrat party. Therefore, Biden must be licking his wounds at his homes in Delaware hoping he can be useful politically to someone or some cause.

Joe Biden: Have You Seen Him Lately?

But there have been few if any sightings. Normally, the former president would be taking long walks on the beaches of his home state. He could be riding bicycles and eating ice cream – pastimes that he enjoyed while president. We’ll probably remember him more for taking vacations and slipping into oblivion after his last debate with President Donald Trump.

A New Book Is Embarrassing to His Legacy

The only thing we know about Biden lately has come from a bombshell book about the end of his presidency. Jonathan Allen from NBC News and Amie Parnes from the Hill wrote a significant ode to the Biden presidency and it hasn’t been a sterling portrait. Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House came out last week and journalists and Washington insiders have been perusing the volume looking for clues about the Biden downfall.

Just a Well-meaning, Amiable But Frail and Forgetful Old Man

For example, the book talks about how Biden aides once laid down a strip of fluorescent tape to help the president walk in the correct direction at a fund raiser. This was another example of how the president seemed like a meandering and forgetful old man by the end of his presidency.

Allen and Parnes also talked about how many Biden power players behind the throne were so worried about what would be a disastrous presidential debate that they stayed home to avoid the inevitable public embarrassment.

Joe Biden: Has He De-Camped to Los Angeles?

There was word last autumn after Vice President Kamala Harris’ embarrassing defeat to Trump that Biden was looking for a new house in a locale that would make him forget about politics – at least for a while. Reports of him eyeing a new address in Southern California made the rounds, but it is unclear if he pulled the trigger on a new estate in Los Angeles.

Some Presidents Choose to Fade Away

Former presidents eschewing the spotlight after retirement are not unheard of. President George W. Bush refrained from publicly speaking about politics or criticizing his successors after his time in the White House. Bush is happy with a life of painting and rooting for the Texas Rangers baseball club.

President Barack Obama likes to give media interviews and be the life of the party, but he found that his influence was waning after his reign. Obama is still working on his presidential library in Chicago and fending of rumors that he is divorcing his wife.

Does Biden have any hobbies like painting or baseball? That’s not clear. He is not a golfer or partygoer. Maybe working on his legacy is the best choice. He will also need a presidential center and look for that library to be located somewhere in Delaware or in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania.

It even seems like Biden “lost” the election to Trump, even though Harris ran and came up short. Some Democrats wanted him to refrain from running again or at least called for him to drop out earlier to give the vice president a better shot. Biden has not said one way or the other if he did the right thing by waiting three weeks after the debate to fold his hand.

Biden has done a few things. He signed with a talent agency in Los Angeles – CAA – one of the best in the business. So maybe he can book some speaking engagements. He reportedly said in March he would do some fund raising and speechmaking for Democrats. It is not clear if he has any takers.

So far, he has definitely kept a low profile. He has fallen a long way from the politician who loved to be in crowds, relished a chance to give media interviews, never resisted opining about foreign policy, and led numerous campaigns. Perhaps he wants a quiet retirement with his wife and other loved ones. Staying out of the limelight has definite appeal to the elder statesman. We will see if he criticizes the current state of affairs under Trump. This trade war could have him come out of his shell, but for now the president is laying low and biding his time.

The world doesn’t seem to miss him.
