‘Clear and Present Danger’: Trump Now Faces New Impeachment Problems

Could Trump Be Impeached?: Here we go again. The Democrats are talking the “I” word. I’m referring to impeachment for U.S. President Donald Trump.

Of course, the Democrats do not control the House or Senate, but that could change after Midterm elections in 2026.

Trump has fought and survived two other impeachment and removal attempts during his first term, and we all know those stories.

What happens next?

Trump Faces a New Impeachment Problem

But the Democrats believe that the third time is the charm.

What is driving these efforts in Congress?

First, the Left hates the president – that is clear. He has no respect for due process and court rulings – even those from the Supreme Court, they believe. They hate his control over tariffs and the raging trade war he sparked. The Democrats think he obstructed justice, abused power, and violated First Amendment rights. They despise his policies toward illegal immigrants, too.

They Disagree With His Policies and Are Frustrated

Much on the list does not rise to treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Policy disagreements are not grounds for impeachment and the Americans people are not in the mood for more impeachment troubles. But removing the president without an election is catnip for the Leftist base.

They feel powerless to stop Trump and when people feel helpless politically they are open to all options.

What The Rabble Rousers of Impeachment Are Saying

Democrat Congressman Shri Thanedar filed his impeachment articles on April 28. “Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as president and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s constitution and our democracy,” said Congressman Thanedar. “His unlawful actions have subverted the justice system, violated the separation of powers, and placed personal power and self-interest above public service. We cannot wait for more damage to be done. Congress must act,” Thanedar stated in his news release announcing the articles.

Not Many Democrats Are In Support

Some Democrats, sensing over-reach and potential backlash, removed themselves as co-sponsors. Representatives Robin Kelly of Illinois, Kweisi Mfume of Maryland, and Jerry Nadler of New York slunk away from the effort. Only Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois is still onboard as a cosponsor. Texas Democrat Al Green may file his own impeachment articles.

Also, party leadership is not inclined to pursue the process. Representative Pete Aguilar, the chair of the House Democratic Caucus, doesn’t think the Thanedar’s effort is worth the time and effort.

“We don’t have any confidence that House and Senate Republicans would do their jobs, and so this is not an exercise that we’re willing to undertake, Aguilar told reporters.

Leftwing lawmakers are thus not willing to go through the impeachment process, even though they think removal of the president would be so satisfying.

Trump Fires Back

Trump wants those on Capitol Hill who support his impeachment to be expelled.

The president took to Truth Social in his usual fiery mood. “[They] got two ‘No Name,’ little respected Congressmen, total Whack jobs both, throwing the ‘Impeachment’ of DONALD J. TRUMP around, for about the 20th time, even though they have no idea for what I would be Impeached.”

Other Democrats are likely aware that Trump could become more popular with an impeachment process. The country may not be onboard with another display of poison rhetoric and a trial in the Senate. This assumes that the party will win both chambers in 2026, not a sure outcome at this time.

This Is Not What the Constitution’s Framers Had In Mind

Impeaching a president for policy differences instead of a crime is not what the framers of the Constitution had in mind when they foresaw the need for impeachment.

The founders feared real criminal acts like bribery and theft of government money. These are impeachable offenses. Personal power and abuse of tariffs are just not impeachable offenses.

If you disagree with a president, remove him or his party at the ballot box. The Democrats ran a flawed candidate in Kamala Harris, and they lost handily. They can’t believe this happened, but it did. Now some think that removing Trump prematurely is the way to go.

Making Trump More Powerful?

Trump’s approval numbers could likely go up if an impeachment process started again with a House vote and trial in the Senate. Voters can sense a political witch hunt when they see it. The current impeachment articles are laughable. Many Americans know this and do not take Thanedar’s charges seriously.

Trump will keep being Trump, and the Democrats will pull their hair out. The whole impeachment effort is a sham and shows how desperate the Left has become. These are policy differences and not high crimes and misdemeanor,s and most Americans are aware of the differences.

Lawmakers like Thanedar and others are simply trying to own the news cycle for 24 hours or attempting to raise money off their actions. They know deep down this is a fool’s errand. Trump has every right to be furious,s and he will welcome these false charges as a way to fire up his base.

Impeachment is a joke and Trump and his supporters know it.
