Key Points and Summary – A mysterious new photo (shown above) has appeared on Chinese social media, allegedly showing a previously unknown delta-winged stealth jet.
-The airframe, which lacks vertical stabilizers, has fueled intense speculation that it could be a large unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) or an optionally manned fighter.

-There is also the possibility of this being the J-36 fighter-bomber as well.
-An analyst claims this is the third sighting of the aircraft in 2025, suggesting it is a serious development program.
-If the aircraft is a large UCAV, it would signal a significant leap in China’s drone strike capabilities, putting them in closer competition with the United States.
China’s ‘Mystery Jet’ Fuels Unmanned Craft Speculation
A low-resolution image allegedly of a Beijing-owned fighter jet was recently posted to the Chinese state-monitored Weibo app.
We present the picture above, screenshotted from X.
Photo Shared on CCP-Controlled Social Media
The picture has not yet been reliably dated or geolocated. However, it appears to capture an image of a delta-winged jet without vertical stabilizers and a long, slender nose.
On such jets, these elements are generally linked to long-range strike capabilities and stealth.
The photograph, if legitimate, appears to show a Chinese airframe that global observers were not aware of until now, including J-36 and J-50 stealth jets.
This jet’s silhouette suggests something new and different, perhaps even a sizable unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), or a hybrid vehicle capable of being flown with or without a human pilot in the cockpit.
There is a possibility that it could be a test flight of the J-36 fighter-bomber, which has been testing its capabilities for several months now and has also made various appearances on social media.
Third Recorded Sighting of ‘Mystery’ Jet
As Defence Blog notes, aviation analyst Andreas Rupprecht claims that this is the third known sighting of this airframe since the beginning of 2025. “A third image of that mysterious CCA UCAV (?) was just posted,” he wrote on X, sharing a screenshot of the aircraft’s latest appearance.

Naturally, the Chinese regime has not confirmed information regarding any new aircraft, but that hardly stops the internet and experts from speculating.
There are suggestions that the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) is on the path to bolstering a broader plan for a new fleet of unmanned aircraft. Such designs have the benefit of minimizing the risks of battlefield casualties for pilots.
China Chases U.S. Military Dominance
If this plan is truly afoot, its impacts will be huge.
Such a large, unmanned craft could feasibly function as a stealth escort for the next-gen J-50s or carry out high-risk solo missions. That would put China’s drone strike capabilities in closer competition with those of the U.S.
It is also noteworthy that the new design has not been subject to a grand public launch, but rather a low-key social media leak. It is hard to tell whether this reveal was deliberate or whether China would prefer to keep its cutting-edge military projects under wraps for longer.
Still, the plane currently appears to be a prototype. But with three separate glimpses in less than a year, it’s safe to say this is more than just an isolated tech demo.
Once dismissed as a copycat in the military aerospace sector, China is now beginning to innovate in ways that are catching international attention.
The jet seen this week may not have a name yet, but it’s already got the world watching.

I have a photo of a ‘j-26’ but problem is it has a pair of small front canards.
Perhaps the canards are of a removable type.
